Missing 74-Year-Old Surfer Near Laborie Bay


Laborie Bay Area, Saint Lucia –
A search is underway for a 74-year-old man who has been missing since February 3rd. The man was last seen setting nets using a white surfboard in the Laborie Bay area. Authorities are concerned he may have drifted west of Saint Lucia.

A PAN PAN distress call was issued on February 10, 2025, at 06:53:20 Z by MRCC Fort de France, urging all vessels in the area to maintain a vigilant lookout. The missing man is described as 74 years old. Details regarding his clothing or other identifying features have not yet been released.

The prevailing weather conditions in the search area are East Northeast winds at 19 knots, with gusts up to 25 knots. Waves are reported up to 1 meter in height, and the sky is partly cloudy. These conditions could pose challenges to search efforts.

MRCC Fort de France is coordinating the search and has requested that any sightings or information related to the missing man be reported immediately.

The Saint Lucia Coast Guard is also actively involved in the search. Authorities are appealing to the public and mariners in the vicinity to assist in any way possible. Anyone with information is urged to contact MRCC Fort de France or the Saint Lucia Coast Guard immediately. The safety and swift recovery of the missing man are of paramount importance.
