Urgent Maritime Incident: Crew Member Severely Injured on Fishing Vessel Frank Bonefaas


On January 10, 2025, the United Kingdom Coastguard issued a Mayday call for the fishing vessel Frank Bonefaas (IMO: 9074951). The vessel, a 119-meter-long trawler sailing under the UK flag, reported a critical medical emergency onboard.

A crew member has suffered a traumatic injury, losing their arm from the elbow down, resulting in severe bleeding. The vessel's position was recorded as 48° 15.71'N, 008° 55.35'W, located in the North Atlantic. Immediate first aid assistance is urgently required.

The Coastguard is requesting vessels in the vicinity to proceed to the distress position and provide first aid to stabilize the injured crew member. Responding vessels are instructed to report to the United Kingdom Coastguard using the following channels:
