Boat Adrift in Central Mediterranean Sea


Distress alert has been issued by the Libyan Navy Coast Guard concerning a boat adrift in the Central Mediterranean Sea, carrying 50 individuals on board. As per the SOLAS Convention and the SAR Convention (Hamburg 79), mariners are urged to take immediate action.

  • Current Status: The boat is adrift with 50 people on board.

All vessels in the area are requested to divert their course toward the reported position. Upon visual contact with the boat, it is critical to communicate the following details to the relevant authorities.

  • Wind: South-West at 13 knots, gusting up to 17 knots
  • Sea State: Slightly rough sea conditions

Sailing Yacht Sunbeam Overdue – Italian Coast Guard Issues Search and Rescue Alert

  UPDATE 08 Sptempber 2024: The vessel was located in the port of Denia. Alarm no longer active. With the post on Facebook the captain lets us know that they are fine: Oisin Margey Hi, I am the captain of Sunbeam. We are fine and currently approaching the East Coast of Spain.
