Sri Lankan Fishing Vessel in Distress Off Indian Coast

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is coordinating a search and rescue operation for the Sri Lankan fishing vessel "SLFV Nimesh Puthe" (Registration No. IMUL-A-1609 MTR) which reported being adrift due to engine failure on October 26th, 2024.

Details of the Vessel:

  • Colour: Orange/White
  • Length: 47 ft (14 meters)
  • Communication Frequency: HF- 6210.0 KHz (No VHF)

Situation:

As of November 7th, 2024, at 5:40 AM UTC, the vessel was reported adrift at a position of 14°01' N and 87°00' E (approximately 400 nautical miles southeast of Chennai, India). The vessel is carrying a crew of 5 and is currently experiencing northeasterly winds of 14 knots with gusts up to 18 knots, waves of 1.5 meters, and partly cloudy skies.

Request for Assistance:

The Indian Coast Guard is requesting all vessels transiting through the area to maintain a sharp lookout, attempt to establish communication with the "SLFV Nimesh Puthe," and offer any possible assistance. All communication is to be reported to the MRCC Chennai.

Search and Rescue Operation for Overdue Aircraft in Ligurian Sea

Issued by IMRCC Rome - Italian Coast Guard Date: September 17, 2024 To: All Ships Transiting in the Ligurian Sea  A white and grey aircraft with blue stripes is overdue and a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation has been initiated.  In accordance with the SOLAS Convention and the SAR Convention Hamburg 1979, all vessels transiting in the Ligurian Sea are urged to maintain a sharp lookout for the missing aircraft. Any potential sightings should be reported immediately to IMRCC Rome. Weather Conditions: Be advised that current weather conditions in the Ligurian Sea include northeasterly winds of 20 knots with waves up to 2 meters high. Weather is expected to worsen in the coming hours. The overdue aircraft and worsening weather conditions make this a time-sensitive search and rescue operation. The Italian Coast Guard implores all vessels in the area to actively participate in the search and report any potential sightings as soon as possible.
