Distress Alert Issued for Bulk Carrier SPAR RIGEL

August 6, 2024 (18:00 CEST) - An EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) alert was received today at 15:42 UTC for the bulk carrier SPAR RIGEL (MMSI: 257593000). The vessel's reported position is 02° 53.5N 044° 48.5W.

The alert has been relayed to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) Belém, Brazil (mrccbelem@marinha.mil.br, +55 91 3216-4030). MRCC Belém is requesting any vessels in the vicinity of the SPAR RIGEL to check on the vessel's safety and report any information they may have.

Sailing Yacht Sunbeam Overdue – Italian Coast Guard Issues Search and Rescue Alert

UPDATE 08 Sptempber 2024: The vessel was located in the port of Denia. Alarm no longer active. With the post on Facebook the captain lets us know that they are fine: Oisin Margey Hi, I am the captain of Sunbeam. We are fine and currently approaching the East Coast of Spain.
