Tropical Storm Alberto Expected to Make Landfall in Two Days

 

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued the latest forecast and advisory for Tropical Storm Alberto. The storm, currently located near 21.5N, 95.9W, is moving westward at a speed of 8 kt with maximum sustained winds of 45 kt and gusts up to 55 kt. The estimated minimum central pressure is 993 mb.

It is important to note that land-based tropical cyclone watches and warnings are no longer included in the tropical cyclone forecast/advisory (TCF). However, current coastal watches and warnings can be found in the most recently issued TCP. The storm's center was previously located near 21.5N, 95.5W at 20/0000Z but has since moved.

Seas are currently at 12 ft, with winds and seas varying greatly in each quadrant. Radii in nautical miles represent the largest radii expected anywhere in that quadrant. The forecast for 20/1200Z expects the storm to move towards 21.7N, 98.6W, bringing maximum winds of 35 kt and gusts up to 45 kt to land.

The NHC requests three-hourly ship reports within 300 miles of 21.5N, 95.9W for further monitoring. The next intermediate public advisory will be issued at 20/0600Z, with the following full advisory expected at 20/0900Z.
