Merchant Vessels Advised of Alleged Attack Off Yemeni Coast

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) issued a warning on Thursday, June 27th,


2024, regarding a reported attack on a vessel in the Arabian Sea.

Incident Details:

  • Location: 83 nautical miles southwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen (approximately 14°30'00.0"N 41°32'00.0"E)
  • Source: Initial report from military authorities, followed by update from a third party

Reported Attack:

  • An improvised explosive device (IED) reportedly detonated in the water near the vessel.
  • Update 001: The vessel and crew are reported safe. The vessel is continuing to its next port of call.

Military Investigation:

Military authorities are investigating the incident.

Advice to Mariners:

  • Vessels are advised to transit the area with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO.

Sailing Yacht Sunbeam Overdue – Italian Coast Guard Issues Search and Rescue Alert

  UPDATE 08 Sptempber 2024: The vessel was located in the port of Denia. Alarm no longer active. With the post on Facebook the captain lets us know that they are fine: Oisin Margey Hi, I am the captain of Sunbeam. We are fine and currently approaching the East Coast of Spain.
