Distress Signal from Sailing Vessel BLEU BLANC SOLO

An AIS signal from sailing vessel BLEU BLANC SOLO was last received at 13:34 UTC on June 4, 2024, approximately 18 hours ago. This indicates that the vessel is likely continuing on its course.

It is possible that the distress signal was accidental. MRCC ETEL is continuing to investigate the situation and will provide further updates as they become available.

In the meantime, all vessels in the area are still advised to be on the lookout for BLEU BLANC SOLO and to report any information to MRCC ETEL.


Update: Two Vessels in Distress Signal Area

Two vessels are in the area of BLEU BLANC SOLO's distress signal:

  • MINIBEX (IMO: 8626874): French-flagged Pilot Vessel. Length overall (LOA) 29 meters, width 6.76 meters. Presumed to be engaged in search and rescue.
  • IZEL VOR 2 (MMSI: 227649290): French-flagged Fishing Vessel. Length overall (LOA) 12 meters, width 5 meters. May be in the area for fishing activities.

All vessels in the area are advised to be on the lookout and to report any information to MRCC ETEL.

Details:

  • A distress signal has been received from the sailing vessel BLEU BLANC SOLO.
  • The vessel is equipped with an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) transmitting on 121.5/406/243 MHz.
  • The reported position of the EPIRB is 46°59′ North, 00°40′ West (Bay of Biscay).
  • Weather conditions in the area are reported as foggy with visibility of 700 meters.

Actions Requested:

  • All vessels in the vicinity of the reported position are requested to be on the lookout for BLEU BLANC SOLO.
  • Any information regarding the vessel should be reported immediately to MRCC ETEL (French Maritime Rescue Coordination Center) at +33 2 98 55 35 35.

Additional Information:

  • BLEU BLANC SOLO is a French-flagged sailing vessel with an MMSI number of 228215530.
  • The vessel is estimated to be 12 meters long and 6 meters wide.

Search and Rescue Operation for Overdue Aircraft in Ligurian Sea

Issued by IMRCC Rome - Italian Coast Guard Date: September 17, 2024 To: All Ships Transiting in the Ligurian Sea  A white and grey aircraft with blue stripes is overdue and a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation has been initiated.  In accordance with the SOLAS Convention and the SAR Convention Hamburg 1979, all vessels transiting in the Ligurian Sea are urged to maintain a sharp lookout for the missing aircraft. Any potential sightings should be reported immediately to IMRCC Rome. Weather Conditions: Be advised that current weather conditions in the Ligurian Sea include northeasterly winds of 20 knots with waves up to 2 meters high. Weather is expected to worsen in the coming hours. The overdue aircraft and worsening weather conditions make this a time-sensitive search and rescue operation. The Italian Coast Guard implores all vessels in the area to actively participate in the search and report any potential sightings as soon as possible.
