Alert Issued for Possible Man Overboard in the Mediterranean

 

Rome, 7 June 2024 – The Italian Coast Guard's Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Rome has issued an urgent notice to all ships transiting in the Mediterranean Sea near the coordinates 41°52.4'N, 10°57.8'E. This alert, in compliance with the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Convention and the Hamburg SAR (Search and Rescue) Convention of 1979, follows a report of a possible man overboard.

The last known position of the individual was recorded at 0001 UTC on 6 June 2024. All vessels in the vicinity are requested to maintain a vigilant lookout and report any sightings or relevant information to the MRCC Rome immediately.

Sailing Yacht Sunbeam Overdue – Italian Coast Guard Issues Search and Rescue Alert

  UPDATE 08 Sptempber 2024: The vessel was located in the port of Denia. Alarm no longer active. With the post on Facebook the captain lets us know that they are fine: Oisin Margey Hi, I am the captain of Sunbeam. We are fine and currently approaching the East Coast of Spain.
