Wooden Boat with Migrants in Distress South of Sardinia

 

An emergency distress call (DSC) has been issued by the Italian Coast Guard for a wooden boat in distress carrying approximately 12 migrants.

The last known position of the vessel is about 60 nautical miles south of the coast of Sardinia, Italy.

All ships transiting in the area are urged to:

  • Maintain a sharp lookout for any sign of the distressed vessel.
  • Report any sightings immediately to the Italian Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (IMRCC) in Rome.

Current weather conditions:

  • Westerly winds between 10 and 14 knots
  • Calm seas

Sailing Yacht Sunbeam Overdue – Italian Coast Guard Issues Search and Rescue Alert

  UPDATE 08 Sptempber 2024: The vessel was located in the port of Denia. Alarm no longer active. With the post on Facebook the captain lets us know that they are fine: Oisin Margey Hi, I am the captain of Sunbeam. We are fine and currently approaching the East Coast of Spain.
