Repatriation of U.S., Canadian, Dutch, and Finnish Citizens from Northeast Syria

 U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) successfully repatriated four citizens from the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, and Finland from Northeast Syria on May 8, 2024. The individuals were transferred to U.S. forces in Iraq and subsequently handed over to their respective embassies for further processing.


The repatriation was conducted by USCENTCOM's Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) and involved coordination with the governments of Canada, the Netherlands, and Finland. The operation demonstrates the continued commitment of the U.S. and its partners to repatriate their citizens from conflict zones in Northeast Syria.

Sailing Yacht Sunbeam Overdue – Italian Coast Guard Issues Search and Rescue Alert

  UPDATE 08 Sptempber 2024: The vessel was located in the port of Denia. Alarm no longer active. With the post on Facebook the captain lets us know that they are fine: Oisin Margey Hi, I am the captain of Sunbeam. We are fine and currently approaching the East Coast of Spain.
