UKMTO Warns of Increased Caution in Region
May 23, 2024 The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) issued a warning today regarding an attack on a merchant vessel in the Red Sea, south of Al Hudaydah, Yemen.
According to UKMTO Warning Incident 073 - Update 001, the ship's captain reported a missile impacting the water near the vessel's port side. Thankfully, there were no injuries, and both the vessel and crew are reported to be safe. The ship is currently proceeding to its next port of call.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
In light of this attack, UKMTO advises all vessels transiting the area to exercise extreme caution and report any suspicious activity immediately.
