Freighter Attacked Near Yemen, Sustains Damage; Crew Safe

 A merchant vessel (MV) came under missile attack earlier today while sailing 33 nautical miles northwest of Al Mukha, Yemen. The incident occurred at approximately 0930 UTC on May 28, 2024. According to an update from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), this is the second attack on the same ship.

The Master of the vessel reported that the MV sustained damage due to the latest assault. However, all crew members are safe and the ship is proceeding towards its next port of call. Coalition forces are currently investigating the incident.

In response to this alarming situation, UKMTO has advised vessels to exercise caution when navigating through the region. Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to UKMTO to ensure the safety and security of all maritime traffic in the area.
