Taiwan Hit by Powerful Earthquake, Buildings Damaged, Tsunami Warnings Issued

A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan's eastern coast today, causing damage to buildings and triggering a tsunami warning for the island and Japan.

Videos shared on social media show damage to skyscrapers and other buildings, with dust rising from the streets and people running for safety.

Authorities issued a tsunami warning for Taiwan and Japan, ordering the evacuation of some coastal areas. The warning was later lifted, but authorities urged residents to remain vigilant.

The earthquake was the strongest to hit Taiwan in 25 years. Authorities are still assessing the extent of the damage and the number of casualties.

The earthquake struck a remote area of Taiwan's eastern coast, making rescue efforts difficult. Emergency crews are working to reach the affected areas and assess the damage.

The Taiwanese government has pledged to provide assistance to those affected by the earthquake and to rebuild damaged infrastructure.

The earthquake is a major blow to Taiwan, which is still reeling from the aftermath of a typhoon that hit the island last week.

The earthquake is a tragic event that has struck a population already burdened by other natural disasters. The international community has mobilized to provide assistance to Taiwan and to help the island rebuild.
