Coast Guard Seeks Help Locating Activated EPIRB on Cargo Vessel "Kadam"

Coast Guard Searches for Cargo Vessel "Kadam" After EPIRB Activation

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Atlantic Area is searching for the cargo vessel "Kadam" after an Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) was activated on March 2nd, 2024, at 2:00 am UTC.

The message, received through the Inmarsat system, indicated the EPIRB activation originated from coordinates 28.0N,60.0E . However, these coordinates are probably incorrect. The map shows a probable location based on its route.

The "Kadam" is a bulk carrier registered in Liberia. The vessel is 229 meters long and has a deadweight tonnage of 74,500. It was last reported sailing from NOVOROSSIYSK Port on 2024-02-09 05:05, en route to Altamira, Mexico (ETA 2024-03-08).

The USCG is requesting any mariners in the area to keep a sharp lookout for the "Kadam" and report any sightings to the USCG Atlantic Area Command Center.

The USCG is also working with international partners to coordinate the search effort.
