Distressed Canoe Off Senegal: Search Underway for Missing Crew Member

A search is underway off the coast of Kafountine, Senegal, for a missing crew member after a canoe named "Takou Liggey Yalla Yana" capsized on February 27th, 2024, according to a distress message received via the Inmarsat system.

The Senegalese Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Dakar) reported that the incident occurred between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM UTC (8:00 AM and 9:00 AM local time) at a location roughly 12 degrees 34 minutes North and 16 degrees 33 minutes West.

While four crew members were successfully rescued, one remains missing, prompting MRCC Dakar to urge all mariners in the area to assist in the search and report any information to them directly.

Sailing Yacht Sunbeam Overdue – Italian Coast Guard Issues Search and Rescue Alert

UPDATE 08 Sptempber 2024: The vessel was located in the port of Denia. Alarm no longer active. With the post on Facebook the captain lets us know that they are fine: Oisin Margey Hi, I am the captain of Sunbeam. We are fine and currently approaching the East Coast of Spain.
